Post subject: Start yp and bootable CD for Win-XP-Pro, similar to startup-floppy for Win-98-SE
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

Earlier, in order to format and partition my HDD, I had been using the
Startup-floppy of Win-98-SE . CD is always better than the horribly
unreliable floppy. When I attempted to copy the contents of the
Win-98-SE-startup-floppy onto a CD (by burning the CD), 3 files (namely,
command.com , config.sys and autoexec.bat) weren't copied onto the CD, even
though all the other files and folders (such as fdisk.exe , etc) were indeed
copied. As such, this burnt CD is entirely a waste, it never functions as a
startup CD.

My OS being Win-XP-Professional, my intention being my frequent necessity to
format and partition my HDD (into 3-5 unequal partitions including one in
NTFS), kindly provide the appropriate information to me. I want a bootable
and startup CD.

Whatever app you use to do the partitioning should also have the ability to
create a bootable CD.
